Preventing HIV, AIDS and STIs =
Sex and U
Whether you are male or female; rich or poor; educated or lesser educated; employed or unemployed; young or elderly; HIV positive or negative; gay, bisexual, or heterosexual - once we are sexually active there are precautions that we can use to protect ourselves and our partners against the Human Immunodeficiency Virus ((HIV), Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS) and sexually transmitted infections (STIs).
How Does HIV Spread During Sex?
To spread HIV during sex, HIV infection in blood or sexual fluids must be transmitted to someone. Sexual fluids come from a man's penis or from a woman's vagina, before, during, or after orgasm. HIV can be transmitted when infected fluid gets into someone's body. You can't spread HIV if there is no HIV infection.
